2026 City of Bonita Springs General Municipal Election
The 2026 City of Bonita Springs General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in conjunction with the Lee County General Election, for the election of the following City Council District representatives:
- Council Member – District 1
- Council Member – District 3
- Council Member – District 5

Candidate Qualification Information:
The City Clerk serves as the Candidate Qualifying Officer for Bonita Springs Municipal Elections. Individuals interested in running for office are asked to contact City Clerk Mike Sheffield at (239) 949-6248 to schedule an appointment to review the qualification requirements.
To qualify, candidates must:
- Meet all qualifying requirements stipulated in the City Charter and Florida Election Laws, including residency and voter registration in the district they seek to represent, for a minimum of six months immediately preceding the commencement of the term of office.
- Submit all required qualifying forms and pay applicable fees within the designated qualifying period. All documents must be physically received and time-stamped at the City Clerk’s Office by the close of the qualifying period.
Candidate Qualifying Period:
The Candidate Qualifying Period begins at Noon, Monday, June 8, 2026 and ends at Noon, Friday, June 12, 2026. All qualifying documents and fees must be physically received and time-stamped by the City Clerk by the close of the qualifying period:

Nonpartisan City Elections: City of Bonita Springs Municipal Elections are conducted on a nonpartisan basis. Candidates will appear on the ballot without any political party affiliation, ensuring the focus remains on local leadership and community priorities.
Term of Office: The term of office for elected City officials is four (4) years.
