City of Bonita Springs Proclamation designates the week of May 16-22, 2026 as National Police Week in Bonita Springs (sponsored by Deputy Mayor Purdon)
CITY OF BONITA SPRINGS PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the City of Bonita Springs proudly joins communities across the United States in commemorating National Police Week, honoring the courage, integrity, and selfless dedication of law enforcement professionals who safeguard our communities and uphold the values we cherish as Americans; and
WHEREAS, the Bonita Springs Community Policing Unit serves a crucial role in strengthening the fabric of our City - protecting neighborhoods, fostering trust, upholding justice, preserving peace, and responding to emergencies with swift action, compassion, and expertise; and
WHEREAS, the men and women of the Bonita Springs Community Policing Unit exemplify the highest ideals of service, valor, and professionalism, thereby earning our profound respect, gratitude, and admiration; and
WHEREAS, National Police Week provides the citizens of Bonita Springs with an opportunity to honor our law enforcement professionals and express our heartfelt appreciation for their unwavering courage and commitment to protecting our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mayor Mike Gibson, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim May 10-16, 2026, as:
National Police Week in the City of Bonita Springs
and extend our deepest gratitude to past and present members of the Bonita Springs Community Policing Unit and the entire Lee County Sheriff's Office, whose dedication and exceptional service have made the City of Bonita Springs one of the safest cities in Florida.
