City Council approved a public art lease agreement with Lynx Zuckerman @ Bonita Grande, LLC for the placement of 2 sculptures within the Midtown Development project.

The City Council has made recent efforts to consolidate advisory boards including its land use boards combining both the City’s Local Planning Agency and Zoning Board into a single Planning and Zoning Board.

The City received a grant award notice from the Florida Division of Emergency Management on April 17, 2024 that funding in the amount of $4,282,761.60 from the HMGP-COVID Program was provided. The City’s required match of $475,862.40 provides a total project cost of $4,758,624 for the Neighborhood Acquisition/Demolition Project in the Quinn/Downs/Dean Neighborhood.

Little Hickory Island and Big Hickory Island had a total of 187 sea turtle nests for the 2025 season, which is from May 1st to October 31st.
