2026 General Municipal Election
The 2026 City of Bonita Springs General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in conjunction with the Lee County General Election, for the election of the following City Council District representatives:
- Council Member – District 1
- Council Member – District 3
- Council Member – District 5

Candidate Qualification Information:
The City Clerk serves as the Candidate Qualifying Officer for Bonita Springs Municipal Elections. Individuals interested in running for city office are asked to contact City Clerk Mike Sheffield at 239-949-6248 to schedule an appointment to review the candidate qualification process and requirements.
To qualify as a candidate, individuals must:
- Meet all qualifying requirements set forth in the City Charter and Florida Law.
- Be a legal resident and elector in the council district they seek to represent.
- Submit the following to the City Clerk by the close of the qualifying period: All required documents and qualifying forms (fully completed and signed), proof of residency and voter registration, and applicable fees. Blank candidate qualifying forms are available at the City Clerk’s Office and on the websites of theFlorida Division of Elections and the Lee County Supervisor of Elections.
Candidate Qualifying Period:
The Candidate Qualifying Period begins at Noon, Monday, June 8, 2026 and ends at Noon, Friday, June 12, 2026. All required documentation, qualifying forms (fully completed and signed), and applicable fees must be physically received by the City Clerk by the close of the qualifying period:

Candidate qualifying forms are available at the City Clerk’s Office and on the websites of the Florida Division of Elections and the Lee County Supervisor of Elections.
Additional Details:
- Nonpartisan City Elections: City of Bonita Springs Municipal Elections are conducted on a nonpartisan basis. Candidate names will appear on the ballot without political party affiliation.
- Term of Office: The term of office for elected City officials is four (4) years.
- Code of Conduct: In accordance with Resolution 10-057, City Council Members follow a Code of Conduct that promotes civility and decorum in discussions and debate, and a commitment to integrity and public service in support of the best interests of the City of Bonita Springs.
