Bioreactor being filled with woodchipsCouncil has approved staff’s recommendation under the City’s Construction Manager at Risk continuing services RFQ which will allow Wright Construction to develop a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Phase 2 of the Felt’s Avenue Bioreactor Project. The second phase of this project will bring a consistent flow of water to the site from the Imperial River at a variable rate up to 500 GPM (720,00 GPD) along Shriver Avenue to the site and also provide filtration of the water before transferring it to the existing woodchip bioreactors.

The GMP for phase 2 of this project is $800,000 which includes $50,000 of City controlled contingency funds. The City was awarded $400,000 from FDEP through a grant program for phase 2 of the project, and an additional $250,000 will be allocated to the project from the city.

The funding allocated to phase 2 of this project will allow for rapid project design and construction and provide the flexibility needed to develop cutting edge Bio-Reactor pre and post-treatment project features. These features coupled with existing Bio-Reactor infrastructure will make this facility a first of its kind.
