City HallDuring the February 19th City Council Meeting, staff provided a draft of the City’s Emergency Operation Plan for informational purposes prior to its formal adoption. The policies and procedures contained in the EOP are in alignment with the County’s emergency management operations and have been reviewed by the Director of Lee County Public Safety – Emergency Management, for consistency with the Lee County plan. Staff will be bringing forward a resolution adopting the EOP in accordance with FEMA guidelines in March.

Staff is also working toward providing strong language in the form of an ordinance to comply with FEMA requirements for funding during emergency situations.

Additionally, staff is coordinating with our community partners to provide an overview of emergency management updates to present to Council prior to the start of hurricane season. The planning of staff’s annual training activities are also underway in conjunction with the Lee County EOC training and preparation activities.
