Ben Nelson Jr. is a third generation Floridian who grew up in his hometown of Bonita Springs.

Before being elected Mayor, Ben served on the Bonita Springs City Council for eight years in District Six. He has owned and operated Nelson Marine Construction for 26 years. Prior to serving on the Council, Ben served as a Director for Bonita Springs Utilities for ten years, three of them as President. He is a member of Cypress Lodge in Naples, the Bonita Springs Rotary Club, The Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, and has been a member of the historic First United Methodist Church in Bonita Springs for over 40 years.

Ben has been married to his wife Lori for eight years; he has twin boys, Nick and Neil, age 28, one daughter Megan, age 23, and two grandchildren.
