Peter R. O’Flinn
City Council District 4, City of Bonita Springs
A native of New York City, Peter attended Colgate University, where he graduated in 1974 with highest honors in Economics. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar. During a twenty-five year legal career, he specialized in financing and merger transactions for some of the world’s largest insurance organizations, and served as co-chair of one of the nation’s premier law firms. He has served as a board and finance/audit committee member of New York Stock Exchange listed and other companies.
Peter has been extensively involved, shoulder-to-shoulder with other community leaders and city council members, in major initiatives to improve the quality of life and economy in Bonita Springs. Peter and his wife, Kathy, have been Bonita Bay homeowners since 2004 and are proud parents of Peter Jr., who moved to Bonita in 2010 to found the Spotlight Magazines, and Michael. Peter Jr., his wife Katie and their daughters also are proud Bonita Springs residents.
The O’Flinn family, like so many in Bonita, has been actively involved in the volunteer organizations that are the heartbeat of the town. Among other activities, Peter has served as Chairman of the Bonita Springs YMCA Advisory Board, a board member of the Bonita Assistance Office and Planning Group Member of the Bonita Bay Veterans Council, on which he serves in memory of his father, a World War II Purple Heart recipient.
